How To Relieve Stress And Anxiety
With what sometimes feels like more bad news every day, stress and anxiety are something that more and more of us are having to live with on a daily basis. This can lead to a bit of a vicious circle with bad news causing you to feel stressed or anxious which can then make minor things seem much worse than they are. If you want to know how to relieve stress and anxiety then you have to begin by shifting your focus from the things that are making you feel this way and onto things which bring a bit more fun or pleasure into you life.

So, is constant anxiety or the stress in your life dragging you down? Are burdens weighing so heavily upon you shoulders that you can’t remember the last time you had a good laugh or some fun?
Everyone could use a little fun in their life!
While it’s true that some stress can be good, it is also critical that you find time to unwind. But if you have so much stress that you never have fun, then this can have devastating effects on your body and your mind.
With that in mind, it may be time for you to look into some fun ways to relieve stress and anxiety. Here are just a few that I thought of but I’m sure you could think of plenty more yourself. First of all I want to let you in on the simplest stress reliever of all!
Smile!!
Studies show that smiling is good for your health. When you smile, your body releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural stress relievers. They take away pain and decrease the effects of the fight or flight response, which propels you to resolve a problem.
Smiling also promotes a positive attitude. Take time to flash a smile at everyone you see. Not only does it make you more attractive, but it also gives you energy to face the world!
So, since we know that smiling is such a good stress and anxiety reliever, lets look at some fun ways to relieve stress and anxiety by making us all smile some more!
5 Fun Ways To Relieve Stress And Anxiety
1: Visit an amusement park. This is a summer activity, but visiting a theme park during the spring and summer months is a great way to relax and get the kicks you need to re energize and find fun.
Regardless of where you live, almost every country in the world has some sort of amusement park. If you do visit one, ride only the rides you want, and avoid those that frighten you. Remember the idea is to have fun!
Take time out of you visit to enjoy the scenery. Lose yourself in your surroundings for a little while.
Watching and listening to roller coasters or other rides is quite exhilarating and will make you feel more energetic. By the time you leave at the end of the day, you find that your stress levels are significantly lower. And most likely, you’ll have the time of you life!
2: Laugh. Laughter is food for the soul. It makes you happy. Laughing gives you a brief escape from the pressures of your everyday life. It will make you feel happier and will make you ready to face the world with ease. Laughing relaxes the body and improves posture, which makes you feel better all over.
So do yourself a favour, and laugh whenever you can.
Find friends that make you laugh and spend time with them. Go and see a comedy show live. If that’s not an option then watch some comedy on TV. One of my favourite ways to get a laugh is to hop onto YouTube and find a recording of one of my favourite stand-up comedians and watch some of their material. By the time you have finished you will have forgotten about whatever made you feel stressed or anxious!
3: Sing. Being carefree doesn’t have to end when you grow up. So why stop singing in the shower? It makes you happy, even if someone hears you.
Singing activates the pleasure centers of your brain. These centers aid in helping you relax. Called the limbic system, these critical parts of your brain also help you form memories, especially pleasant ones. Your brain is like a virtual notepad, which records everything you experience. So why not incorporate singing into those memories?
Singing helps relax your body and move more freely. No matter what your taste in music, everyone can benefit from flexing their vocal cords. If someone catches you singing, that’s even better. You can share a chuckle. And who knows, maybe they will join in!
4. Go for a ride. If you’ve been in the house for too long, or have worked long hours at the office, jumping in the car for a ride along a country road will help lower stress and anxiety levels. As you drive, turn the radio to you favorite station, and lose yourself in the scenery.
As you body begins to relax, look for other calming sights like waterfalls or rolling valleys along the sides of the road. Many local parks have lakes and other natural scenes that are quite relaxing. Find them!
5. Buy an aquarium. Bet you weren’t expecting to read that! Fish are graceful, and they can help you relax. Many people find that meditation using sound helps them relax. Listening to an aquarium does the same thing.
In choosing an aquarium, purchase the accessories as you want. If your aquarium looks nice, then it will be more pleasant to watch. Not to mention you will feel more at ease and will have energy to face the day.
High levels of stress and anxiety can leave you feeling lethargic and uptight. However, finding fun ways to relieve stress such as the ones above will bring your stress levels down to a manageable level.
Fun activities like these bring happiness and soothe your body at the same time. Take these tips for relieving stress and anxiety on board and use them. You will lower your stress levels, feel less anxious, and you will be a lot happier too!
Best wishes

Hello,
I enjoyed reading your article.
You gave some really useful tips on how to relieve stress.
Today’s world can be difficult and we all struggle at times.
I liked your suggestion for having an aquarium but I think it’s better to have a cat!
The sight of the family cat always makes me smile and stroking him lowers my blood pressure.
Best wishes,
Cameron
Hi Cameron
Yes a cat would work just as well. I used to have a cat and it was definitely very relaxing to have her sit on your lap and stroke her.
Glad you found the tips useful.
Cheers
David
I find life extra stressful the last few months – I’m sure that’s the case for most people. When it comes to relieving stress and anxiety we always tend to think in terms of more complicated solutions and forget that it could actually be something very accessible and simple. We are too quick to resort to medication. Thank you for the tips! Listening to my favorite music loudly while driving, is something that really helps me relax. And usually I end up singing along enthusiastically! So looks like I’m managing to apply two of your tips at once :)) Driving somewhere while singing! Enjoyed reading your article.
Hi Nayla
Yes you are spot on about the tendency to overlook simple solutions while looking for something more complicated or “new out”.
Singing while driving – I love it! Yes that’s how to get real stress relief!
Thanks
Dave
